AnnaSophia Robb & Alexander Ludwig Chat Race to Witch Mountain

Race To Witch Mountain stars Alexander Ludwig and AnnaSophia Robb share their thoughts on directors, dreams and their daytrip to Disneyland with Dwayne Johnson!

Did you have fun working with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on your new movie, Race To Witch Mountain?
AnnaSophia: Definitely! Dwayne is so cool.
Alexander: He is such a professional. He’s unbelievable! He’s such a good guy – and he’s always on time.
AnnaSophia: Dwayne is very supportive, but the thing I love about him the most is the way that he really respects everybody on the set. He’s a very giving guy.

Did you get starstruck when you met him for the first time?
Alexander: It was certainly a little nerve-wracking.
AnnaSophia: Especially because Dwayne is huge! The first time I met him was on the day I flew into LA to work on the movie. We did a tour of Disneyland and there were crowds of people coming up to him, but he was so respectful. He acknowledged everybody and he was really gracious.

Did you go on the Disneyland rides with Dwayne?
Alexander: This was the funny thing… Dwayne wouldn’t get on any of the rides! He can tackle a 7-foot guy jumping on him in a wrestling ring, but he won’t go on a ride for 6-year-olds. It was really funny!

Are you saying Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a big wuss?
Alexander: He’s a huge wuss! Oh, wait a minute… No. He’s going to kill me for saying that. It was very funny, though. He didn’t want to go near the rides!

What was it like to act alongside him for the movie?
AnnaSophia: He gives back as an actor. If you want to try a scene a different way, he’ll try it with you and he’ll be there for you.
Alexander: We got on so well because he’s such a cool guy. He came from a pretty hard background, so I find him very inspiring. He’s great to work with.

AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig Give Acting Tips!

Calling all wannabe actors! Want to shine on the silver screen like Race To Witch Mountain stars AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig?

Here are their top ten audition tips:

TIP ONE: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
Alexander says: I’ve always loved performing, but I think it’s really important to train as much as you can. Sign up for a school play, read books and learn as much as possible! My parents always show me videos of things I would do as a kid, like jumping onto tables singing – and I really do believe that practice makes perfect. I love to entertain, so I’d practice everywhere and anywhere I could.

TIP TWO: TAKE CLASSES
AnnaSophia says: When I was little, I remember pointing at the TV and saying, ‘That’s what I want to do.’ Acting was in my blood, so I took acting class and I learned how to act in front of a camera. Learning how to stand and speak on camera is really important if you want to act on screen – and it helps to calm audition nerves. If you’re serious about this industry, sign up for classes and get involved.

TIP THREE: PREPARE!
Alexander says: It’s important to put 100% preparation into every audition you go for. If there’s a script, read it all so that you know everything about the film. I love making notes in the script to help me remember bits – but the most important thing to do is memorize the lines!

TIP FOUR: NERVES ARE FINE
AnnaSophia says: You can’t stop nerves. Everybody has them. I’ll practice my lines like crazy before an audition because I’ll always freeze up with nerves. I’m fine when I film on a set, but I get so nervous in auditions. My hands will shake and my mind will go blank. Sometimes nerves work to your best advantage because the adrenaline pushes you forward. Take the adrenaline and use it in the scene to your advantage!
